Get On This Pronto

Our Pronto lens adapter enables auto focus with manual focus lenses through an integrated motor in the adapter housing. This motors is able to move an attached lens from its minimum focus distance all the way to infinity. The Pronto was designed for Leica M lenses, a vintage mount with the shortest focal flange, but can be double adapted with compatible M-mount adapters to expand lens support. That is what makes our Pronto lens adapter popular with new Nikon Z users switching from Nikon F.

The current lens adapter that Nikon offers for Nikon F to Nikon Z has compatibility limitations with a large selection of their F-mount catalog. Nikon’s current FTZ adapter only supports autofocus with select lenses that feature a built-in focus motor, including AF-S, AF-P, and AF-I lenses. But what about all the great Nikon glass before the introduction of internal motor technology?

The Nikon FTZ adapter lacks a worm drive mechanism required to be compatible with AF-G, AF-D, and older AF series lenses. This might not be a deal breaker for many switching with modern Nikon lenses. But for long time Nikon users, this has been a shortcoming.

Our Pronto adapter, when double adapter with a Nikon G to Leica M adapter, will enable auto focus on Nikon lenses with a worm drive and manual focus AI/AI-S lenses. There are limitations to consider such as aperture control, focus modes, and native Nikon controls. Our Pronto combination will allow you to mechanically control the iris on the lens using the aperture control dial on our Nikon G to Leica M lens adapter. This is only possible with Nikon lenses that have an aperture arm on the rear of the lens. Focus by wire lenses like the Nikon PC series will not be able to benefit from this.

The Pronto adapter support AF-S and AF-C modes as well as the various focus area modes. However, focus speed can be limited with smaller focus areas and AF-C is not going to perform like a native lens. The motor inside the Pronto also produces a hum which can interfere with audio in video mode.

Aside from this, our Pronto adapter can also be programmed to work like a manual adapter and even has a macro mode that offers 5mm of extension. The adapter features firmware updates and you can double adapt with other popular mounts outside of Nikon G.

We highly recommend Nikon F users switching to mirrorless consider our Pronto lens adapter as an alternative investment. This combination is also possible on Sony and Fujifilm, two popular systems most Nikon users switch over to.

Nikon F lenses are known for offering high contrast due to their coatings and minimalist optical designs. Their use in the world of mirrorless is incredibly valuable and some of our favorites include:

Nikon 50mm F1.8D

Nikon 80mm F1.8D

Nikon 105mm F2.8D Macro
